It won’t be Hartnett’s first time on Irish soil. His father is Irish American, and Hartnett told the Sunday World he’s been to the country many times before.

“I’ve been to the south west coast a few times because that’s where my family is from originally, around the Dingle Peninsula,” he said. “My father is half Irish and I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Ireland.”

According to the World, Hartnett will mix a bit of business with pleasure during his time in Dublin, meeting with film executives about film projects possibly based in Ireland.

The awards ceremony is set for February 20. Among those nominated are the usual suspects, including Colin Farrell and Saoirse Ronan, and international stars such as Robert Downey Junior and Meryl Streep.

MTV News caught up with Cudi on his final day of filming for the HBO series and he explained how he got Hartnett to produce and Baker to direct his next video. “I was actually telling Josh that I wanted to shoot the video. We were hanging out one day, and he [Hartnett] was like, ‘Aw, I know this one guy, he’s done great work. He’s really dope and refreshing.’ I was familiar with his stuff. He [Baker] did the music video for Animal Collective’s ‘My Girls,’ and I was a fan of that video.”

Cudi gave Baker a rough idea of what he wanted and the director embellished it, presenting something “dope” and special to him.

“I just saw the first rough cut the other day. Drake is in it. He has a cameo … a bunch of my homies that I knew coming up,” Cudi said. “We were just kicking it. When you see the video, it just makes me feel good, because I’m seeing all my friends and people that matter in my life. We were all celebrating. It’s like a New Year’s Eve-type thing. Everybody’s just getting wasted.”

While The Pursuit of Happiness features MGMT and was produced by Ratatat, they weren’t available for the video shoot. However, Cudi is thinking about making another version featuring both groups.

“I’m going to pull the Kanye and do multiples,” he laughed.

The 30-year-old was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by ambulance at 0145 local time on Monday morning.

Susan Patricola said in a statement the star was “under observation but is resting comfortably”.

Hartnett made his West End debut in a stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning film Rain Man last year.

Ms Patricola said the 30 Days of Night star was “suffering from a flare-up of a gastrointestinal problem that plagued him while he was starring in the West End during the production of Rain Man”.

The actor was taken ill for a few days with the same problem last November while in London.

Hartnett is currently in the middle of production for his next film, Queen of the South, with Sir Ben Kingsley.

Elizabeth Avellan and Sandra Condito will produce the adaptation of Spanish writer Arturo Perez-Reverte’s novel about a Mexican woman turned Spanish drug lord (Mendes) out to avenge her boyfriend’s murder. Hartnett plays a Marine who gets involved in her business, and Kingsley plays a Russian businessman.

The project, once set up at Warner Independent, is now being independently financed by Winchester Capital in conjunction with Origen PC and Plural Entertainment. Essential Entertainment is handling international sales.
